Proven, Kingspan and SD Wind servicing

Proven, Kingspan and SD Wind turbine servicing

Servicing, fault finding and repairs for the whole Proven family of turbines across Scotland and the rest of the UK, from the original Proven models to the Kingspan and SD Wind turbines that followed.

The models we work on

These turbines share the same family design, with the hinged blades that let them keep running in strong winds. We service and repair every generation of them.

If your Proven, Kingspan or SD turbine has stopped, is making new noises or just hasn't been serviced in a while, we can help.

Proven Energy, the Ayrshire company behind the original turbines, went into administration in 2011. The designs went on to Kingspan, and the range is now made by SD Wind Energy in Stewarton. Whichever generation you have, with the right servicing and repairs, we can keep it running.

We look at how your turbine has been running, where it's installed and what condition it's in before deciding what needs doing.

Why owners choose us

  • Turbine specialists. Servicing and repairing wind turbines is all we do.
  • Honest advice. We'll tell you straight what does and doesn't need doing.
  • Reliable when things go wrong. We turn up when we say we will.

Repair or replace?

Most of these turbines can be kept running with the right servicing and repairs, and that's always where we start.

If yours is reaching the end of its life, we're also the UK agent for Kodair. The Kodair KW20 is a 20kW turbine with a 13.1 metre rotor, and the KW30 offers more power for windier sites. If your turbine is on the feed-in tariff, you may be able to keep those payments after replacing it.

Questions

Which models do you service?

We work on the Proven P7, P11 and P35, the Kingspan KW3 and KW6, and the SD Wind SD3, SD6 and SD12. If you're not sure which model you have, send us a photo and we'll tell you.

How are Proven, Kingspan and SD Wind connected?

They're the same family of turbines. Proven Energy went into administration in September 2011, and its business and assets were sold to Kingspan the following month. Kingspan made its KW3 and KW6 turbines based on the Proven designs. Kingspan's small wind range was later bought by SD Green Energy of Japan, and is now made by SD Wind Energy, still based in Stewarton.

My turbine has stopped. Can you help?

Yes. Give us a call on 07943 011440 and tell us what's happening, including any fault codes on the controller. We'll talk it through and arrange a visit if needed.

How often should these turbines be serviced?

We recommend servicing a Proven, Kingspan or SD turbine once a year. Regular servicing helps catch problems early, before they turn into breakdowns and lost generation.

Can I keep my feed-in tariff if I replace my turbine?

Often, yes. Since Ofgem changed its rules in 2021, an accredited turbine can usually be replaced without losing its feed-in tariff for the years left, though Ofgem looks at each case individually. We'll help you check with your FiT supplier before any work starts.

Do you cover my area?

Yes. We cover the whole of Scotland, England and Wales.
